| Music, Video, Art, Inspiration
"A-Trak is not an uncommon name in this crazy music industry. We all know this humble story of this Montreal-er - a multiple DMC Champion handpicked by Kanye West to be his touring DJ, co-founder of Fool’s Gold Records, a pioneer in this electro dance scene, an avid twitter-er, a renowned hotel reviewer and the list goes on. EIKNARF and Asian Dan in collaboration with Media Contender & KLOUD had the opportunity to be invited into Alain’s apartment/studio to get a candid view into how he got to where he is, what it took to get there and where he is going" Via djatrak.com

Over the past 10 years, I have pursued a little-known genre called "slitscan photography. Far from being just a visual curiosity, it has become a substantial tool for the exploration of themes meaningful to me. I have found slitscan photography to be an excellent vehicle for ideas central to my work-- ideas about time and our place in its continuum." Via ansenseale.com Inspiration: +Dgreg

Inspiration: Hiroshi Sugimoto
Wed, Jan 6 2010 06:53
| Photography, Art, Inspiration, Design

Japanese photographer Hiroshi Sugimoto has always used his camera to explore unseen phenomena. His latest project, called Lightning Fields, the award-winning photographer traded optics for electricity. He wields a Van de Graaf generator to send up to 400,000 volts through film to a metal table. The resulting fractal branching, subtle feathering, and furry whorls call to mind vascular systems, geologic features, and trees. Although some of the effects happen by chance, the artist does try to exercise control. “I have a kitchen’s worth of utensils that produce sparks with different characteristics,” he says. “But there are many variables — weather, humidity, perhaps even what I had for breakfast — I’m never sure what influences the results.”

Truly amazing but also creepy photos of doll like girls that take on a stament.
"In a broad sense, all of my works demonstrate a kind of oppression. If conditions allow, parents plan a future that they think will be good for their children. If they are not wealthy enough, they hope their children will have a skill and then they force them to develop it. As children grow up, their character is distorted by the inappropriate pressure of their parents and their schools. The appearances of my figures drift between real people and dolls. While the image is aesthetic, I also want to reinforce the strong sense of distortion." Via Zhang Peng.

Despite the less than moderate life Dutch artist Vincent Van Gogh had. He enjoyed
painting during depression times, he was getting support from his brother. Van Gogh managed to officially sell one painting in his lifetime during an exhibition that displayed
"The Red Vineyard" painting for 400 Francs (equals about $1000 in today's money). That painting and most of his work is valued by the millions today and most importantly is an inspiration to a lot of artists and designers from all walks of life. Pictured is above is the
only art he sold in his lifetime, The Red Vineyard. More of his work inside..
